Jellies!!

So probably one of the coolest things about Boston is that they, like many other costal cities, have jellyfish! I've never before seen one in the wild so this was quite a treat for me. And naturally I was inspired to create some jellies of my own. I'm still playing with them and would like to make them my new header sometime soon. For now though I thought I would share these guys with you.

There are more Jellies coming but blogger is being difficult and would only upload the above image.

Coming Soon!

My cousin Emily just had a baby, her name is Gabriella and she is lovely. So in honor of my adorable new family member I'm illustrating a series of pieces about a verse my cousin gave me. I hope to post process work soon.

Summer Heat

So for some reason I've been drawn to creating images of large people dealing with the heat. I feel that this being the first summer without AC in about seven years is most likely the reason why. The characters here are currently being put into final illustrations with backgrounds, but I thought I would share the people with you now. Hope you like them.

Fish!!

So here are some thank you cards I designed. At the time I was really into fish because of my thesis. Fish were a nice break from trying to visually convey the idea of evaporation. Below are a puffer, a cowfish ( always wanted one),an AngelFish and, an Angler fish. I originally wanted to add an Ocean sunfish as a joke, but it never really turned out. ( One of the people I was sending a thank you to was not a big fan of them...seemed like a good idea at the time.)

Soon several variations of Jellyfish will join this group of illustrations. As to why I will save that till I post the them.

More Thesis Work

Hello again, here are some screen shots from my senior thesis. I will soon be posting it on Youtube and Vimeo with a link to it from my blog. Love to hear any feed back.

Summer 2010

Okay....so it's really been forever since I've posted. But I'm currently in the process of creating a website and redesigning my blog. So not only will there will be lost of new things popping up in the next two weeks. Here is an illustration I did in Illustrator as a test image for my senior thesis. My thesis was about the water cycle and was a short informational piece about how it worked. This image was an early design for evaporation. It was completely thrown out. Though I liked how it turned out so I saved it.

Owl Coffee Sleeve

Sorry it's been so long since I've posted I've been busy working on my senior thesis which I will be posting several pieces from in the coming weeks. But for now here is some work I managed to fit in on the side. A coffee sleeve I designed for a fellow CDES student Emily Oswald. She was kind enough to let me design one of the coffee sleeves for her senior thesis. For her thesis she created an identity for a tattoo parlor called Ink. Her project is pretty awesome. I will post the final with the logo included after the presentations and a link to her work too.

Because Purple is So In!

Just finished this motion piece for the Washington University in St. Louis branch of Relay for Life. The concept is "Why do You Relay?" Visually I wanted this motion to be a type based piece which is quite a change of pace for me considering I tend to avoid type. I also wanted to convey the idea of the track that Relay physically takes place on. My goal was to suggest the the idea of the track by using the white lines as a means of transition. Then as the motion progressed it became more and more clear what the lines represented. I think it worked out well and I have to say that doing precise storyboards helped me a great deal in not only the planning but the final product. Please join Relay for Life and help in the fight against Cancer.

WUPR Illustrations

Hi all, so yet again it's been a while since my last post. Things have been picking up with the softball season starting, first game in two weeks, but I do have a few new things. I did these two illustration for our political magazine on campus. This issue like many other magazines was titled "A Year in Review." I did two illustrations this time, one about the launch of the i-phone and the second about the 2000 presidential elections. I took this chance to work on likenesses. I think it went well though I would like to work on pushing the envelope more next time.

Little Red and the Big Bad Wolf

Here are a few images from my final project in my Image development class. It was really during this project that I figured out what I enjoy working on and what parts I do not. I tend to like constructing backgrounds, it's where I find myself noodling as we say at studio. And oddly enough the characters were not as interesting. So expect some new backgrounds to pop up on my blog in the coming weeks. And Happy New Year everyone!

Good Bye Yellow Brick Road

So here is my first motion project I did this past semester it's a title sequence for the Wizard of Oz. All the images are made out of cut paper and I animated it in Flash. I spent nearly all my time making the characters and settings and looking back I wish I had had a bit more time to spend on the rest of the project. A valuable lesson learned. Hope you guys like it and I hope to post more motions in the future.

Here's a link to my video on youtube, and below are some screen shots.
